The new wave of giving back to Presec has found demonstration and expression in year groups stepping up in renovation of dilapidated structures on campus. One group determined not to be left out is the 1982 group. Under the able and dynamic leadership of C.B. Asante, our brothers are renovating the octagonal shaped dining hall which has not seen any maintenance since it opened its doors in Sept 1968 with a dinner meal of rice and chicken stew and pineapples as dessert.
The Project is being done in three phases: Phase One which is estimated to cost GHC 200,000 entails transformation of the main dining hall, repairs, provision of new tables/chairs, internal & external painting and polishing of the terrazzo floors. Phase Two will be the provision of modern kitchen equipments and finally Phase Three will see the construction of a new kenkey making block.
Under direct supervision of Odadees C. B. Asante and Architect Eddie Odjijja, work is progressing steadily and the dining hall will be available for use by students when school reopens this fall. The works have been structured in a way not to disrupt the use of the facility or inconvenience students. So after essential works to make the hall functional, work will continue throughout the first term.
1982 have raised the bar and shown determination, resolve, steel and mettle in pulling this through. A barbecue Rablow event will be held at a later date to celebrate all those who supported phase one of the project and to raise funds for phase two and three.
